If Aang had been that pissed in a fight, he would have gone into the Avatar State accidentally…But, Korra didn’t go into the Avatar State…So, WHAT IS GOING TO PISS HER OFF SO MUCH TO CAUSE THAT REACTION? WHAT IS GOING TO CAUSE THAT MUCH ANGER IN HER? I’m just scared.
Well. hold on, here’s a thought. Maybe anger isn’t what’s going to do it. There’s nothing to say that anger ISN’T going to cause Korra to accidentally the whole Avatar State, but think about how Korra was designed by the creators to be as much Aang’s opposite as possible.
Before he actually got a handle on the Avatar State Aang could only enter it when he lost control of his emotions and got angry. Kooky antics aside the kid was pretty level-headed; losing his cool would’ve a big deal for his character even if it didn’t involve all his past lives grabbing the controls and running amok.
Korra? That girl’s emotions already run amok. Anger is right there in the basic set of defaults, and it’s probably the one used the most; let’s be honest, Korra’s fights are really fun to watch but there isn’t much in the way of cleverness or forethought put into them. She gets angry, gets mean, and kicks butt, which has not prevented her from screwing up now and again when she gets ahead of herself.
With a short temper it might not BE anger that’d trigger an uncontrolled Avatar State. Otherwise it’d be Avatar State all the time. Maybe Korra’s trigger would the opposite. A moment of calm acceptance of a situation gone well and truly pear-shaped? Or perhaps shock at something that stamps out the reflexive anger?
Probably nothing, just a little theory that’ll disproved right quick, but I think it’s an interesting one.
